Al Ridenour, a Krampus historian, will recount the roots and the resurgence of the Krampus- in Austria, Germany, and internationally.

Join us virtually with author and historian Al Ridenour, as he discusses his research and folklore about the ledgend of the Krampus. With roots in the 18th century, the history and folklore of the Krampus is a rich one, based mostly in Austria and Germany. Most associated with Saint Nicholas, the Krampus has started to become a devilish part of American holiday tradition as well.

FREE for GAHC&M members, $5 for non-members. We will have signed copies of Al’s book, The Krampus and the Old, Dark Christmas: Roots and Rebirth of the Folkloric Devil, available for purcahse.

Al Ridenour, an artist, journalist, animator, author and consummate expert on all things Krampus, will provide historical context to the rise of the Krampus and how its presence in American holiday culture came to be.
