The German American Heritage Center and Museum and Zimmerman Honda are excited to host the 3rd Annual Oktoberfest in Kaiserslautern Square (K-Square) which provides a perfect venue for an outdoor event in the heart of downtown Davenport. This free event is a great way to celebrate the rich German culture in the Quad Cities while having fun in our community. It features a variety of traditional Oktoberfest activities including music, food, games, and beer.

Stein Holding Contests – a game in which participants try to hold up a full mug of beer for as long as they can.
Hammerschlagen – A game in which participants compete against each other to drive nails into a wooden stump one hit at a time.

🍺 We will be selling German beer and a special Oktoberfest brew exclusively from Twin Span Brewing.
🌭 Tiphanie’s and Ruby’s will be serving up delicious German-inspired meals.

Our Historic Summer Walking Tours kickoff this weekend! Our tours start downtown at our historic building and explore the homes and businesses of the German immigrants who lived and worked here. Learn their stories, explore history of Davenport, and appreciate the amazing architecture of the Gold Coast homes.

The tour is open to the public and included with regular admission.

Visitors will explore our permanent exhibition, The German Immigrant Experience, along with our two rotating galleries.

Our Next Kaffee und Kuchen is this Sunday, May 18th. Join us for cake, coffee, and conversation about a local historic treasure, The Hauberg Estate.
The Weyerhaeuser and Denkmann Lumber Company helped shape the Midwest’s lumber industry, with Frederick Denkmann and Friedrich Weyerhaeuser building one of the most successful timber businesses of the 19th century. The Hauberg family, through Susanne Denkmann Hauberg (Denkmann’s daughter and her husband John Hauberg), continued this legacy of business leadership and philanthropy in Rock Island. Their impact lives on in local landmarks including the estate, which is now a civic center, historic home museum, and public gathering space.
