Come explore all our exhibits and learn about the history of Davenport in our historic 1860s building!
Located in a former German Gasthaus (hotel), visitors can immerse themselves in the story of German immigration to the United States. Explore the connections between present-day refugees in the Quad Cities to German immigrants of the past in our exhibition Our Neighbors, Our Friends: Unsere Nachbarn, Unsere Freunde. Learn about the importance of agriculture in the lives of these populations.
Learn something new in our exhibition Hidden Habsburg Immigrants in Iowa: 1846-1868, which dives into immigrants from the Austrian Empire to Davenport during the tumultuous 1848 Revolutions in Europe. Highlights of this exhibit include Nicholas Fejervary and Big Nose Kate, who became Doc Holliday’s lover in the Old West.
Come learn more about the experiences and legacy of German immigrants today!
