Who? What? Wear? German Costume and Culture

Visions of ladies with braided hair in dirndls serving beer at Oktoberfest and men in lederhosen slap their knees as they dance fills our minds when we think of Germans. This superficial vision of German culture always includes one thing: German Tracht (pl. Trachten)- known in English as “traditional” dress.

This exhibition will explore the history, culture, and future of German ethnic dress, through a variety textiles, clothing and accessories from the GAHC collection and members.

The exhibition opens April 9, 2021 and closes August 22, 2021 and is included with general admission:

Adult: $5 | Senior: $4 | Child: $3 | Member: Free
