Bruch’s First Violin Concerto: 150 Years Later

In May of 2018, Joshua Bell will visit the Quad Cities Symphony to perform one of the giants of the German Romantic repertoire, Max Bruch’s First Violin Concerto.

Augustana music professor and composer Jacob Bancks will visit the German American Heritage Center to walk us through this beloved work which premiered in 1868 in its revised and final form. A production collaborating with virtuoso Joseph Joachim, the concerto provides an epic encounter with 19th century German musical ideals.

Bancks will be presenting on Sun. July 15th at 2PM.
The lecture is included with regular admission to the museum:
