A German Journey: My Fascination with Lieder
July 14, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Join us on Sunday, July 14th at 2pm for “A German Journey: My Fascination with Lieder.” German art songs have always been a central part of Nathan Windt’s performance repertoire, in part because German language and culture have intrigued him from a young age. In this presentation, Dr. Windt will discuss these formative experiences, as well as choose a selection of songs that have been especially meaningful to him in both his cultural and musical upbringing. In addition to a brief discussion of the social and musical context for these lieder, the presentation will also feature performances of music by Mozart, Schubert, Clara Schumann, Brahms, Hugo Wolf, and Richard Strauss, as Dr. Windt will collaborate with Dr. Marian Lee, Associate Professor of Music and Head of Keyboard Studies at St. Ambrose University. Dr. Windt serves as Chair of the Music Department, as well as Director of Choral Activities, where he also teaches applied voice and vocal techniques.
