Join the GAHC in our much anticipated, and first annual, haunted walking tour! After much success with the summer historic house tour, we thought it only appropriate to create a tour that's a little spookier just in time for Halloween. So grab your walking shoes and a water bottle and join us every Saturday at 10:30 as we explore downtown Davenport and share the many haunts, murders, and mysteries that Davenport holds! Tours are $5 per person

Katie Luther: The Woman Behind the Reformation

Barbara Kay will be presenting a 1st person costumed portrayal of Katie Luther and her role during the reformation that started 500 years ago. Discover the woman behind the reformation as she tells her story and answers questions from the point of Katie Luther herself. Barbara Kay joins us once again to present a costumed portrayal of a German- American Woman and what life was like for her during World War I. Anti-German Sentiment, even in Davenport, became rampant after the United States joined the war, and many friends and neighbors became hostile to one another. Herbert Quelle, the German Consul General for the Midwest in Chicago, has researched extensively the German roots of the pocket-sized companion of European immigrant since the 19th century. It's that time of year again to welcome in the holiday season! Back by popular demand, Keith Bonnstetter rejoins us for his classes on the German paper cutting art of Scherenschnitte. Two classes will take place on November 18th on the 4th floor of the German American Heritage Center. The 2-dimensional class begins at 10 Am and the 3-dimensional class begins at 11:30.
