German Immigrant Tales by Brian Fox Ellis

December 3 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Meet three movers and shakers in our shared history, men who played pivotal roles in the lives of their community and had an impact on regional and national history, men who were proud of their German heritage and proud to be Americans. Brian “Fox” Ellis will transform before your eyes to become each of these men, telling deeply personal stories taken from their journals and the historical record. First you will meet Steamboat Captain, friend of Lincoln and rival of Mark Twain Henry Detweiller; then, Louis Phillip Wolf, who published one of the most successful German Language newspapers in the Midwest; and finally, local businessman and veteran of the Franco-Prussian War, Fritz Postel.
