From Humble Stew to Elegant Kaffee
September 9 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
The German American Heritage Center presents Antje Petty from the Max Kade Institute in Madison, WI, with her talk “From Humble Stew to Elegant Kaffee”.
When immigrants from German-speaking Europe came to Wisconsin in the nineteenth century, they brought with them their culture and traditions, especially culinary ways and recipes. Before long, cookbooks were printed in this country for the German-American Hausfrau. Through text and images, they provide fascinating glimpses into the lives of German immigrants and mirror their acculturation to a new world over time and editions.
The program will occur on September 9th, 2018 at 2 PM at the German American Heritage Center in Davenport.
The program is included with regular admission to the museum:
$5 for adults
$4 for seniors
$3 for children
