From Humble Stew to Elegant Kaffee: The Art of Nineteenth-Century German-American Cookery
February 4 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
The German American Heritage Center presents:
From Humble Stew to Elegant Kaffee: The Art of Nineteenth-Century German-American Cookery with Antje Petty
When immigrants from German-speaking Europe came to Wisconsin in the nineteenth century, they brought with them their culture and traditions, especially culinary ways and recipes. Before long, cookbooks were printed in this country for the German-American Hausfrau. Through text and images, they provide fascinating glimpses into the lives of German immigrants and mirror their acculturation to a new world over time and editions.
The program will be on February 4th at 2 PM
This program is in collaboration with our newest exhibit, “Culinary Customs: A Taste of Germany”
