Leaving a Legacy-Planned Giving

Many thoughtful friends of the GAHC have a deep desire to continue their support of the museum after their passing. Such a gift is called a planned gift and involves contributing personal assets through wills, trusts, or gifts that provide lifetime income, and estate plans.

The simplest planned gift is to state your intentions in your will or trust. Many people leave a specific dollar amount or a percentage of their estate to “German American Heritage Center, a not-for-profit corporation in Davenport, IA.”

Others prefer to designate assets such as insurance, retirement funds, or real estate. An attorney or financial planner can assist you with the details and explain the tax benefits of planned giving.
